One of the most famous preparations in Jamaica is jerk chicken.
Jerk is known as a dressing-type sauce with which they prepare chicken at barbecues.
Dare to try it at home, in the company of a fresh salad full of fruits and vegetables!
INGREDIENTS
- 1 or 2 tablespoons to taste of lemon juice
- 1.5kg Delichicks chicken breasts
- 2 tablespoons of thyme
- 2 tablespoons ground allspice
- 8 minced garlic cloves
- 3 medium onions chopped
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 2 tablespoons of salt
- 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
- 1 glass of orange juice
- ½ glass of soy sauce
- ½ glass of olive oil
- 1 glass of white vinegar
- 1 or 2 tablespoons to taste of ground cinnamon
- 1 or 2 tablespoons to taste of nutmeg
- 1 or 2 tablespoons to taste of ginger
- 6 peppers
PREPARATION
Step 1: Cut the onions, garlic and peppers large.
Step 2: Blend all ingredients except chicken in a blender to make Jerk Sauce.
Step 3: Cut the chicken into 4 pieces (if using whole chicken) or portion the breasts based on the number of people who will be eating this recipe.
Step 4: Mix the sauce with the chicken. Save some for later use.
Step 5: Put the chicken in the fridge to marinate overnight.
Step 6: Grill the chicken, cook it slowly, and stir it often. Drizzle with “Jerk” sauce during cooking.
For best results you can prepare it on a charcoal barbecue, ideally with a wooden pepper grill.
